Ships
Shapes on the horizon
floating slowly by. . .
They appear and disappear,
tiny portals in the sky.
The ocean has no memory
of its passengers through time.
Only silt keeps partial records
of the ones we could not find.

A collection of Sherri's poetry, including "Paw-Print
Patterns," a selection from Cat on a Cool, Cloth Awning was
a finalist in the 2004 Yosemite Writers' Conference poetry
contest.
Sherri's short story, "Derby Day" and her poem "Ships"
were finalists in the 2004 Heartland Writers Conference
short story and poetry contests. "Ships" was later
published in, Stories and Poems, the 2004 anthology by the
John A. Logan College Southern Illinois Writers Guild.
